I just bought the game this past weekend, and with the exception of the tutorials, every scenario I've played has exited to the desktop at one point or another. They all seem to crash either at the start or when the AI is moving. Sometimes the game exits the first time through a scenario, sometimes the 2nd time if I replay one. Is there some troubleshooting mode I could use to help track this down? Any options that may make things more stable? I have all graphics options at their best settings, music & voice muted, hardware sound, and am playing against Medium AI.

I've tried the usual stuff... I have the latest drivers for everything, I've done a clean install of the game, downloaded and run the latest patch (matrix, for the US version).

You installed the 204 patch which is known by its bugs. Though one is the latest patch available at the moment I would recommend you to use the original version or patch 191.

Well, I've tried the 191 patch for a while, and the game is still crashing to the desktop often. I was unable to complete a campaign, and several scenarios crash at random times as well.

I can't recommend this game nor Massive Assault Network to my friends unless it is a little more stable. It's very frustrating to have the game just drop out to the desktop in the middle of a turn.

Did you do a complete reinstall before using that patch? Including deleting the MA directory after uninstalling and before reinstalling? If not, that's what I'd reccomend.

204 is indeed a pain, I was whooping Triple Repulse on my third try, and then the game broke! Arghhh!

There should be an autosave from the last turn you played before it broke. If there is, you can get the game back.
