Why haven't you installed the patch yet Mrakobes?

Either way though, I think there should be a disclaimer somewhere that it is not recommended that users with/without the patch play eachother.

2 Wasabe there are reasons why i have not install the patch (connected with the slowness of Media-2000 - the moronic distributors of MA)

I remind everybody about the following. When opponents play different versions of "Massive Assault" (patched and unpatched- the original one) it may sometimes lead to different unit movement trajectories.

It seems, problems may occur during replaying of a turn made with the unpatched version, on the PC, where patched version is installed.

To avoid such problems, especially in the tournament, version must be upgraded to the patch.

Another way: if your unit is moving near a country border, move it hex by hex.

The program "knows" only the source and the destination points. All intermediate hexes are calculated. And patched and unpatched versions make this differently...

Hi artmax

I would have thought that if 2 people where playing 2 different versions of the game an error message would pop up indicating this was the case, and a message informing them to upgrade their version ?

Or perhaps when even someone connects to the server it would check the version no then install the patch automatically.

Just my 2$ worth

Yes, it's usual and obvious way to make such things.

But if you would watch "Credits" of "Massive Assault" you saw everybody in the staff does its own part of work.

And I was not allowed to do network programming :)

The popup with error message appears only after the patch (v190).

Mrakobeses version is not patched.

This game would be broken after the installation of the patch.

The popup window appears only when an error happened, it doesn't when a game is played simply with two different versions.

The problem was in pirated version, on which the patch doesn't work.
