I found my activation code inside the manual, but the game never asked for it

What does that mean ?

Are there still any features locked ?

Activation code is used to register your online profile that enables you to play MA over internet

Well I used the account from my MAN stuff. And obviously he does not ask for it. Is that intentional ?

When you register MAN profile you get Trial status and have to pay money to be able to play on all maps.
When you create profile from MA with activation code you get access to all maps that were released for MA. You also get a discout on MAN subscription if you own MA. Please contact our support team if you have any questions regarding discounts. You may use your code anytime to register a separate MA profile.
