EDIT: Apologies, this was a question that turned into praise, I forgot and thus it's in the wrong forum :)

Firstly, let me say how much I have enjoyed this game. Only got the demo, but that in itself has been enough to make a promise to myself that I will buy the full version. I was amazed to find how well balanced everything was, in my World War with the AI I was finding uses for pretty much every unit. They all had a niche (except maybe turrets... best behind a defensive line, but since you'll be recreating that line, and can't buy the turret in another territory and move it forward, when will you have the money?)... beat it on Hard on my second World War (after being thrased first time around) and was so chuffed with myself I saved the replay and showed it proudly to my brother.

One of my favourite features, and one that I haven't seen mentioned yet in any review, is the replay feature. The way it makes my hesitant decisions and constant rewinding seem like a flowing grand strategy is wonderful... and it takes up next to no hard drive space! The replays need to pause over new purchases a little longer, it's too hard to see what people bought. Wonderful idea though... any sites sprung up with an idea to storing and reviewing replays yet?

I went through training and picked up the basics, but wasn't sure how to play. Then I fired up a replay... wow... it was great. You pick up so many tactics and general ideas, and learn a few things not otherwise mentioned for the demo.

Then came the senarios. The two easy ones allowed me to gain some confidence, then came the beauty of the third one, taking the neutral side territory to out-flank the AI. It was like some beautifully thought out puzzle, holding off an overwhelming frontal assault, while making a desperate grab for resources I so badly needed. Meanwhile the AI played with ruthless precision. It was a joy to win, and an education in the value of taking neutral territory.

The AI is very impressive. The way in scenarios it doesn't seem to make a mistake (you must find 'the way'), and in world wars it will only lose if you out-think it on the strategic level. Playing my second world war (which I won), I tried to put into practice all the things I learned from the Back & Forth replay and the flanking scenario. I decided before the game began, exactly how I was going to play, and stuck to it. It worked a charm... though I was aided slightly by having a territory in the corner that sucked in the AI, who then needed to redeploy to respond to my next attacks :)

Only thing I ever note about the AI is that it's a little chicken in dealing with neutral territory. Considering how useful they are as a source of funs, the AI often seems unwilling to make a move on them (at least, in my limited game and replay experience).

All in all, you have done a wonderful job. Of course, there are always thing I'd like to see, like the ability to have more players (though I can see that might be tricky AI wise, since that'd take some real work to update its understanding of the game), and perhaps making cities a little more relevant to the game, and... well... it's already good the way it is :)

I second this. And to think I almost missed this game, if it wasn't for the demo that I came across. It's my first turn(/think) based strategy game, and I'm loving every minute of it. Full version recently came into my possession, and I've just downloaded all updates (patch, map, scenario's, campaign).

Whoops, forgot to login. Strange, I can't remember ever posting on a board without log-in. Isn't this a bit risky?
