Has this happened to anyone else yet?

Up until this morning I was ranked a General with 1625 points. Now the system has reduced my rank to Major but my points total is the same at 1625.

I have tried restoring my profile but each time its says I'm now a Major with 1625 points.


Has the ranking system changed??

Yeah, I got bumped back down to general, and my mentor account got bumped down to colonel. The website still lists me as a marshal though. So what's going on guys?

Same with me. Went from General to Colonel.

Points stayed same, but interestingly my position jumped 40 places up (from about 130 to 90).

Site lists them right tho...

only the top x% (eg 5 not sure exactly) are marshals, next x% are gernals etc, so if people move past u in score it can put them into that % bracket and push you down to the next one.

But why would that drop a General to Major?

It could be they removed a lot of inactive players from the database or something... If they reduced the total number of players by a lot, the number of people that are Marshalls, etc will be a lot less.

That would be nice...less to d/l when refreshing the opponents' list. However, Marshal is the only rank (afaik) that's %-based, so purging inactives wouldn't affect Generals.

As I recall, all ranks over Leutenant were %based. Something like top 1% Marshall, 10% General, etc.

Look down at VaNO's description. Sergeant and all ranks above have a % component.

Heh, just spent the last 5 minutes looking for that thread.

Yeah...I guess everything really does have a % component. I think what threw me was that Marshal is the only one where the % is a lower limit instead of an upper limit


Edit: As an addendum, I just finished a game against ChrisCraven, and it still gave me the 40 points as though he was still a Marshal, even though he's labelled General now.
