Anyone have good tips for the 2nd mission on the ice campaign? It seems like I always get overwelmed from the bots that start to appear after a few turns. I try to keep my missle launchers back far enough, but they always seem to get me in the end. Any help would be great. :o

your first goal is to get revenue from a neutral country. It's possible to complete on the third turn(if I remember correctly)
Then everything is simlpe: use your ground transport to transfer LAVs to the front line to patch holes in your defences.

 and how do i get revenue from a neutral country?
this is #&%!#¤ rediculous, i've never played any game that's this impossible. i don't know if i'm a retard but i think not.
get a grip developers, you should gradually step up the difficulty.
not like this 1 = normal, 2 = impossible, 3 = don't need a third level.

2nd mission in Ice campaign do not have the neutral to conquer if I remember it right.Instead you shoud conquer single enemy province with RL and turret defending it(which is somehow not that difficult). So you should struggle to survive in Rogeria until reparation forces along with the survived ones will join to reinforce you.

2nd tactics involves buying light vehichles as guerillas to prevent more of the enemy units coming, then INJURE as much as possible and 2nd turn wins by finishing off already injured units.

I find first method more interesting:)

We are already working on making the game's difficulty lower...
:-)

Meanwhile I suggst playing the 12-easy-scenario pack available for the download here:

2Vic - I really don`t think you should lower the difficulty.Ice campaign IS hard but nothing impossible. It`s just hard enough to be interesting.I don`t think I need missions where I could just move units around being sure that I will win even making mistakes.

icy campaign isnt difficult at all
look at revolutionary fire campaing scenario 5 lol
or those 3 long-hard scenarios
but anyway you CAN beat the AI in any scenario...question is time only
that's the online play where TRUE difficulty is

Please donґt.

Hereґs my solution to Ice Campaign, Part 2:
My usual approach, not very subtle, but...

ok, i can admit that it's not impossible.
but... it's still to damn hard... when one are force to almost go crazy just because one can't complete it and has bought that damn game.
this not what i call well spent money.

You`re getting it totally wrong.IMHO,MA is supposed to be a game created for multiplayer. You not being able to beat the scenario just tells you to go play with human opponent.Experience accumulated from such games will allow you to beat CPU there for sure.

P.S.The more I play with AI the more I understand just how dumb it is.I think developers need to make the game HARDER instead of simplifying it.AI NEEDS SOME BRAINWASHING.Mobility is the key to success and his hordes of LAVs with mortars or tanks without proper cooperation with transports have no chance to winagainst experienced player.

P.P.S What is said above is said about WW`s only.Scenarios and campaigns are thought out pretty good so that even otherwise dumb CPU is hard to beat.

Well, I heard one man saying:
"The more I play with AI, the more I understand how smarter I am becoming..."

:-)

I'm kidding, of course..

As I heard, you become smarter constantly playing with ones stronger than you.Learning how to utilise AI`s stupidity is just that - some tricks that are only useful against AI.They have nothing to do with intellect or being smart.

One funny thing about the Ai and law of its constant stupidity.Any law has to be proved so lets do it. AI is stupid beacuse of the holes in it`s intellect. AI - in Japanese means Love.Making Love has the meaning of having sexual pleasure, having sexual pleasure is translated to Russian as trahatsya. And that`s EXACTLY what we do with it.Using all holes...(Law proven - it is meant to be so from the beginning:))))

(sorry if anyone thinks it too vulgar;))

I played it half a dozen times before getting frustrated and checking this discussion board. What finally saved me was the replay that somebody else posted (thank you!).

My first and most significant problem was that I didn't realize that the unit selection list scrolled. So, yes, I was in fact missing something obvious and that was making my life much harder. You really, really need to recruit another rocket launcher on this mission. When the enemy has to come to you, a long-range gun platform is priceless.

I tried a variety of other tactics suggested by the manual, such as parking units in the enemy countries, but their guerilla forces tore me apart (and strengthened their existing units). I was getting crushed no matter what I tried.

The real lesson of this mission is that you have to concentrate firepower on the stronger enemy units. If you have tanks and LAVs you can't hit the things you need to hit. When you're getting significantly out-spent, you need to destroy his big units as fast as he's making them.

I don't see a problem with the game difficulty; rather, I see a problem with presenting this without guidance. None of the tutorial missions prepared me for it. Perhaps the opening messages need a sentence like "hint: recruit an additional rocket launcher and concentrate on killing his heavy units".

I've spent 4 nights trying to beat this mission. I kept getting it wrong - or so I thought. I looked at the replay posted by coffeedragon in this thread. Finally I noticed that, in the replay, the AI doesn't reinforce the southern front (the one with the gun tower) during the recruitment phase!

However it does when I play it. Is this because I'm using the latest patch which has rebalanced the mission making it impossible? I'm playing on hard btw.

I haven't seen the replay, but you can't buy reinforcements in an occupied country. If Coffeedragon has troops in the AI's country, then the AI won't be able to buy troops there.

Here is how I did it. Things I did in this replay:
Cut enemy income by invading NW as soon as possible.
I only stalled the advance from the south, eventually letting them have it.
Invested heavily in missile launchers (worked for me).
