It's mentioned, in a vague sort of way that the AI has been improved in the new patch and that there are now three levels of difficulty. No idea is given of the changes.

There is only one thing I want to know, and that is: does the AI cheat on any of those levels? For example, on the top level does it get twice the revenue of the player, etc.

In some setups it has extra resources or units at hard level (well, historically, some units were taken away to make easy and medium difficulty levels...), but a player always knows how much and where are they.

In World war games (sort of deathmatch) it has the same ammount if resources and doesn't spy on your secret allies at any difficulty level.

The odd thing is that in the blurb leading to the patch it says that the changes are mainly AI related, especially performance wise, and then the patch list doesn't mention a single AI change.

What am I missing? :)

2 Quitch
the changes to AI were implemented in 1.90 patch
here is a quote from patch message
2.1. Significantly increased AI performance
2.2. 3 AI's difficulty levels implemented for all playing modes:
* EASY level is funny enough: AI buys expensive units and makes mistakes
in tactical calculations
* MEDUIUM level: AI buys cost-effective units but makes mistakes in
tactical calculations
* HARD level is similar to original AI level: AI buys cost-effective
units and it's very tough in tactics
2.3. Overall AI's tactical behavior improved
2.4. AI's Naval units' behavior improved (including their co-operation with
the land units)

if you speak about latest 1.91 patch there was not any changes in AI itself.Campaigns was redesigned to change according to chosed AI level (that means if you select easy AI will not only behave like idiot but also will have less units to command)
2 Devs - i think that there should be way to see the changes in all patches for those who just came here.

Significant AI changes were made in previous version (190) of patch. New version of patch is introduced at:

changes.txt in the patch includes list of changes for both old and new patch. And next patch will continue this "tradition": changes.txt contains all history of changes.

Cheers, guys. Must have been moving between links or something.

Must play more AI games so I can feedback on it. I do love AI. It made a mistake on hard against me in World War. It had a narrow front, but threw in lots of tanks, which were chewed up by the missile trucks I kept behind a shield of LAVs, when it would obviously have been better off either using rocket trucks of its own, or sweeping through a neutral territory into my flank (I saved a replay so I could relive my first ever victory on World War :)).

I've only played a couple of world wars though, and I only have the demo, so I can't really comment. Great game though... and very impressive AI. As a reviewer said, you have to EARN that victory.
