Post subject: Netx patch for MA
PostPosted: Mon Jun 21, 2004 2:45 pm
Is there any news on when the next patch for MA will be available, (fixing the unplayable campaigns/missions) ?

I've noticed that there's been at least 3 new ones for MAN since .204... :/

There are additional issues with the current version of MA which I have raised both on this forum and in the beta topic for the previous patch. Any ETA on the next patch?

Remember that is a lot easier to release a patch for MAN than it is for MA... For MA they have to send the patch to the publisher, who then has to implement their copy protection updates before releasing it to the public. For MAN they just have to do a build, and pop it on the web.

Yeah, and then I have to wait on the CD crack... it's tiresome. Anyway, ETA?

Well, firstly that would depend on what is broken in MA and what the MAN patch fixed. Secondly, MAN patches are easier to put out since they don't need to be given out to the publishers for CD protection updates.

Be nice for the devs to acknowledge our existence once in a while tho. Even a "not yet" would be better than the silent treatment.

It's frustrating either playing the scenarios/campaigns for no points with v191, having no mouse pointer out of the box, or only being able to access a selection of scenarios with v204. Not to mention a collection of crashes to desktop depending on the version...

Feel free to add any bugs you've found to my 204 known issues post (and crashes you should report to Support as they'll need all that info to pinpoint the cause).

Myself, I haven't had a crash to desktop since dumping the CD crack. Annoying, as I hate using the CD, but better than having crashes I guess.

It's not so much CTD's as hanging on the final block on the loading screen for a map, (a known problem IIRC).

I'm loathe to submit any bug reports until the new patch is released - I'd hate to be responsible for delaying it any longer, (I'll continue to stare daggers at the people moaning that MAN's latest patch has only the plane bug ;).

As for adding to your 204 list. Alas, I'm using 191 at the moment - it's the lesser of three evils. At least I can play on most maps, (tho Brimstone seems to have stopped working for some reason :/ ) without too many untoward happenings. I'm also reticent, (read lazy ;) to go through all the scenarios again finding the ones that a broken - especially since I'm "saving" them for when the next patch is released.

It's all rather annoying really, I never start playing the multiplayer component of a game until I've finished the single player, but the AI is becoming rapidly less challenging, (whilst the desire to play is, if anything increasing).

After making an idiot of myself twice for posting in the wrong forums (I blame the hidden nesting of the forums on the index - bloody confusing!), I've finally found the right one to complain about various missions not working in the patched 204 version.

Oh look! Everyone is having the same problem! But the retail version (190) appears to be working better... at least, no broken scenarios that I've found so far. Is this a case of it being better to play without the patch, or have I just not found the major bugs in 190 yet?

These are some fairly serious bugs here in a game with great potential, but the "must play" feeling for this game will only last for a short while before it gets returned to the store.

I'd stay with v190 if I were you - it's by far the lesser of two evils.

Although you don't get scores recorded, you'll get enough practice so that when a working patch is released, (if ever :P) you'll be able to run through them all double quick time. :)

Thankfully I have Warlords Battlecry 3 to occupy my time at the moment. Hopefully by the time I've finished that there'll be a new patch available. If not, Doom3 is just around the corner too - which gives 'em another week or so of grace... :)

I am using polish version of MA and two weeks ago I've written to dev's describing my problems with the game. They said that they are going to release the new patch in the next week and I should be patient. Time is running and it seems that we will have to wait for another patch ...

By the way - I wonder if any other maps and scenarios will be availble in the future ???

Take a look at http://www.massiveassault.com/press_release10.php

Wargaming.net is hard at work on the next generation of Massive Assault, which would explain why they haven't released another patch lately.

Still don't know how that effects the owners of MA though, as to when and if another patch will come out...
